back in the saddle

I've been on the road for a few weeks at conferences, life is so hard, laying around the pool after the meetings are done. I got a ton of work done, worked out a lot, went to the beach and amazingly enough, I even got some sleep.

Cocoa beach in Florida at low tide.

Now I'm at work for 2 days, then off to Las Vegas. I do have a new desk in my new office, it's kind of crappy but I think I'll get used to it. When I'm here anyhow. I'm not complaining at all, I got a really nice raise in base salary plus my monthly bonus percentage was tripled. It should average out bringing home an extra paycheck each month, and that will go right into the safe.

My tomato plants are doing great, pepper plants have struggled but I have enough of those so I'm not worried. We had a lot of rain while I was away so I have to mow the yard at some point. The deck benches and deck were sanded and stained while I was laying around in the sun. It's so nice when everyone in the house is of the same mindset.

The garden goes in next weekend and I'm really excited to get my fingers in the dirt and grow my own produce again. Like I've said many times, it's the little things. Longer work hours, preparedness and working out... there is a lot going on when I'm home to keep my busy from sunrise to whatever time I can fall asleep.

Never let anyone tell you that functioning on 4 hours of sleep a night won't work.

  1. Glad to see you back online.

The equivalent of an extra paycheck a month rocks! I would put it into the safe in the form of something tangible for "future needs".... but I suspect that's what you meant.

    1. For now just cash until we figure out what would be the best investment in metal.

  2. i'm glad to see you back too, and it sounds like you are busy but doing really well.

as for the extra pay checque a month going into a safe in the form of tangibles - it's a great idea but i have a better idea for you. send me the extra pay checque a month and i will be sure to take very good care of your money for you. and then if it all goes to hell in a handbasket you can come up here, feeling safe in the knowledge that i have saved your money for you. deal?

    your friend,

    1. That sounds great but the exchange rate would mean you have to send me money instead. Something about the IRS targeting conservatives....

    2. Too bad that work keeps getting in the way of home life but at least you are being sent to interesting places. My new job is giving me about 1 extra paycheck per month. About half is getting saved the rest is going into preps (which in my case includes fixing up the yard and house to make myself more independent). Of the money getting saved, it all goes into the safe at home. A portion is being put into silver the rest into cash. Even if things crash, the greenback is still going to have value for a while.

I have a great computer here at home, which I thank you for!

    3. I was doing some serious research into silver last night while I was waiting for sleep to take over. It's pretty low right now but I think I'm going to pass on metal preps. If we stick to the plan, we might be able to pay off the house in 2 years.
I've never been a fan of investing in precious metals, the one investment I made I lost $14.

    4. Max, not trying to be pushy here, but don't look at it as an investment in regards to making or losing money, treat it like a Hedge against a crashing dollar.

It's a subtle but important difference.

      Anyway, just my 2 cents.
